Day Trip from Marrakech to Imlil & Atlas Mountains:

After enjoying breakfast at your accommodation in Marrakech, you’ll depart for Imlil on a lovely drive of  about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Traveling south through the impressive Moulay Brahim Gorges, you’ll admire some of the region’s most beautiful landscapes along the way. If your trip falls on a Saturday, there will be an opportunity to explore the busy weekly market in Asni, where you can experience authentic Moroccan daily life.

Your trip then continues to Imlil (1,740m), located in the upper foothills of the High Atlas Mountains. Known as a major trekking hub, Imlil is surrounded by flowing rivers and winding trails that stretch in every direction, creating an amazing panoramic landscapes. Upon arrival, you’ll leave your vehicle and relax with a refreshing glass of traditional mint tea before meeting your local mountain guide.

You will then begin your a 4 km hike toward the Berber village of Aroumd (1,843m). The trail passes through the small hamlets of Ait Souka and Targa Imoula, taking you up and down rugged mountain slopes with spectacular views of the Toubkal Massif. Towering peaks such as Jbel Aguelzim (3,547m), Aksouâl (3,847m), and Adrar Adj (3,122m) dominate the horizon throughout the trek.

You’ll stop in Aroumd, a charming village located in the Assif Aït Mizane Valley. Built on an ancient moraine spur, this historic settlement overlooks terraced fields of barley, corn, and seasonal vegetables, all framed by walnut trees and dramatic mountain backdrops. The walk continues for about another 30 minutes to the village of Achayn, where you’ll be welcomed into a Berber family home to enjoy a delicious homemade lunch.After your meal, you’ll descend along the opposite side of the valley, making your way back to Imlil. From there, you’ll return to Marrakech, transferring you to your riad or the airport.
