5 days desert tour from Marrakech to Fes Itinerary:
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Gorges:
We’ll pick you up from your riad or the airport Marrakech at 8:00 am to begin your journey. We’ll drive through the scenic Tizi N’Tichka pass and The High Atlas Mountains, passing by traditional Berber villages and making several stops to take in the beautiful landscapes. After a short break for lunch in Ouarzazate, we’ll continue on to the lush Skoura Oasis, one of Morocco’s largest. Skoura is home to the impressive and well-preserved Kasbah Amridil. There, a local guide will take you on a tour, sharing insights into traditional Moroccan architecture and the age-old irrigation systems still in use throughout the region.
Afterward, drive to Dades Gorges, passing through the Valley of the Roses, famous for its Damascus rose plantations and local women’s cooperatives that produce rose water and cosmetics products. Late afternoon, we reach Dades Gorges, then take a visit to the rock formation known as” Monkey Fingers.” Afterward, enjoy a delicious dinner and overnight stay at your accommodation in Dades Valley.
Day 2: Dades Gorges – Todra Gorges – Merzouga Desert:
After a delicious breakfast, we begin our journey along the Road of 1000 Kasbahs, heading towards the oasis of Tinghir. Here, you’ll be captivated by the serene atmosphere of the Todgha River, with its natural landscapes; take a leisurely walk along its river. As you explore, enjoy the ancient unique lifestyle of the Berber villages and kasbahs, before reaching the awe-inspiring Todgha Gorges, where towering cliffs surround you.
After a hearty lunch in the heart of the gorges, we continue towards Erfoud, famous for its date festival and fossil production. We continue our journey to Merzouga. Prepare for an exciting camel ride through the dunes, where you can marvel at the ever-changing colors of the desert and enjoy a breathtaking sunset. Afterward, continue to your Sahara Desert camp for a magical Moroccan dinner under the stars. Relax and savor your dinner while local nomads perform music with drums that will deeply resonate with your spirit. As the evening unfolds enjoy an overnight stay at your luxury desert camp.
Day 3: Merzouga Full Day Tour:
Wake early to witness a lovely sunrise over dunes of Merzouga before setting off on a journey to explore the area. Begin by visiting the nomadic families living behind the dunes and gain insight into their traditional lifestyle. Then, continue to the village of Khamlia to enjoy the rhythms of authentic Gnawa music. Afterward, savor a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. The tour continues with a visit to the serene Hassi Lbeid Oasis, known for its distinctive charm. Finally, you’ll be taken to your accommodation for the evening.
Day 4: Merzouga – Midelt – Cedar Forest – Fes:
In the morning, we’ll pick you up from your accommodation in Merzouga Desert and begin your journey to Fes. Along the way, we’ll pass through Ziz Valley, making stop over the panorama of Aoufous, marveling one of the largest oasis in Morocco. Afterward, we’ll continue to Midelt passing through the Middle Atlas Mountains, and the cedar forests of Azrou, where you may see Barbary apes. Following that, we’ll head to Ifrane, often known as “Morocco’s Little Switzerland,” for a city tour and make a visit to the Atlas Lion statue. In the late afternoon, we’ll arrive in Fes and transfer you to your accommodation for the night.
Day 5: Fes Full Day Sightseeing tour:
In the morning, start your sightseeing tour of Fes by visiting the old Medina and strolling through its vibrant streets. Following that, explore Dar El Makhzan, The Royal Palace, followed by a visit to Tanneries, where animal leather is used to make clothes, shoes, bags, and more. Following that, we’ll visit Madrasa Bouaanania and the Attarine Madrasa. Afterward, we’ll take you to Al Quaraouine University, the world’s oldest university and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Next, we’ll continue to Batha Museum and Moulay Idriss Mausoleum.
